ReplyDeleteThe bracero program was a program that brought Mexicans to work as farm hands during the second world war. Moral Theology was how people who believe in Catholic church doctorine acted out that doctorine. It basically meant that people followed traditional beleifs despite changing times. The Chicano movement was an uprise by Mexican farmworkers who fought for fair working conditions and wages. Finally the association of Catholic Trade Unionistswas a way fro catholic workers to form unions. It was organized by John Cort who also used churches to labor schools which gave workers the skills to form unions. Hope this helps!

- Great migration- blacks moved from south to north. Settling in industrial cities.
- Moving cuz WWI, industrial jobs were opening and pulling people looking for work. Push affect- south was still Jim Crow south controlled by KKK. So blacks had to get out . Cuz of European immigrations. Catholicism was northern phenomenon
- Encountering catholic priests and nuns. Chicago had been solidified as catholic city. Very segregated due to immigrations. Irish to Irish polish to polish. Encounter Catholics in Chicago for first time.

- Real-estate racist- thriving wealthy catholic parishes to communities with no members cuz they weren’t allowing black people to be catholic
Joseph Eckert
- Converted black neighborhoods to be catholic. He would have classes to be baptizing people that would be full of 200 students. The Chicago plan was that through enrolling the black children to catholic schools. They would convert to Catholicism. Link education to conversion
Corpus Christi church
- Open enrollment to non-Catholic black children. But the families would convert since they became accustomed to catholic life. By 1970 it had the second largest community of blacks

- Had dreams for black Catholics all around the world. Thriving traditional ways
- Great recognition to social problems. And encouraged the adoption of black kids.
- Fight for civil rights which extended from 1960.

- Laws apparatus- determined only 2 % of a country’s residence living in America can migrate to America . (If there were 1000 people only 20 can come from that country)
- Establishing this quota it did not tie itself to the number of people living already it tied it to the amount of people who lived there in 1918
- Every year only a lil more than 100,000 immigrated a year only a few hundred of each country came
- Catholic population grew by 900% 1920-1960 catholic pop in USA – still only grows by 40% (basically by birth)

However, I did want to write and say not to give any undue weight to items on the study guide based on typos. Recall that I had trouble with the keyboard that led to a variety of misspellings and caps locks.
